Susan G. Purdy

About the Artist

I have been painting and drawing all my life. I studied art history and fine arts at Vassar College, in Paris at the Ecôle des Beaux Arts and Académie de la Grande Chaumière with Yves Brayer, and at New York University, with Robert Kaupelis, Esteban Vicente, and Anthony Toney. During my years in Manhattan, I also worked as a textile designer while continuing to paint and exhibit in New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. My paintings have been shown in many galleries and are in numerous private collections. My work over the years has also included teaching, writing, and illustrating over thirty children’s books and cookbooks. Recently, I have returned to art as a profession, exhibiting my paintings in watercolor, pastel, acrylic, and oil.
